Dune Part 2--Scifi Star Wars dreams to Reach

 

So my mom and I planned a fun day for this week, and she asked me what movie I wanted to watch in theatres. At first, we thought to watch The Chosen, but then I realized suddenly that Dune Part Two was actually already out in theatres!

Having loved the first movie already, I asked to watch the sequel.

I won't be giving away any spoilers for the movie, but I will say the movie took good writing and ran with it. From the amazing soundtrack, the thrilling action, and the beautiful camera work of the desert landscape, Dune left me with an awestruck feeling after watching it that I have not felt since Across the Spiderverse came out.

To me, this sequel is what I miss from science fiction films. I am a big fan of Star Wars, but I missed the epic storytelling I have not felt since the original trilogy came out. Every new material feels like it falls short or fades out. 

Dune does not let itself grow weak. Some stories will struggle with an opening, drag in the middle, or fall short in the climax. Dune Part Two did not fall short on any part and had me gripped through the whole 2+ hours I sat in anticipation.

Paul's arc in this movie is amazing! The moral questions this movie raises in religion, politics, and war are thought provoking and the characters have even more depth in this movie than the first as they continue to grow. 

If you are looking for a good movie to watch soon, I highly recommend Dune Part Two!
